Protecting Pets From Preventable Diseases

Vaccinations are one of the easiest and most effective ways to keep your pet healthy. They protect against serious and sometimes fatal diseases — including those that can spread from animals to people, such as rabies and leptospirosis. At Baileywoods Veterinary Group, we ensure your pet receives safe, effective, and timely protection.

When Should My Pet Be Vaccinated?

Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccines starting at about 6–8 weeks of age, with boosters every few weeks until they’re around 16 weeks old. This schedule helps build strong immunity during the critical early months of life when their immune systems are still developing.

Adult dogs and cats should receive annual or triennial boosters depending on the vaccine type and lifestyle risk factors. Our veterinarians will create a personalized vaccination plan to meet your pet’s individual needs.

What Vaccines Does My Pet Need?

We offer both core and lifestyle (non-core) vaccines for dogs and cats, including:

  • For dogs: Rabies, distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, Bordetella (kennel cough), leptospirosis, and canine influenza.
  • For cats: Rabies, feline distemper (panleukopenia), calicivirus, rhinotracheitis, and feline leukemia (FeLV).

During your visit, our veterinarians will recommend the right vaccines based on your pet’s age, environment, travel habits, and exposure risk.

Are Vaccines Safe for My Pet?

Yes. While any medical treatment carries a small degree of risk, adverse reactions to vaccines are rare. When they do occur, they’re typically mild and short-term — such as slight soreness or fatigue. The benefits of preventing life-threatening illness far outweigh the risks.
